May 28th Erin Jeffery leads InterAction's international development policy and advocacy efforts related to global health, water, sanitation and hygiene issues. She manages the WASH and Integrating Health in Relief and Development (IHRD) working groups. As the Advocacy and International Development Coordinator at InterAction, she also focuses on general budget and appropriation advocacy and is an active member of InterAction's Public Policy Committee. In these roles, she is responsible for building consensus among InterAction members behind an advocacy strategy and organizing related Capitol Hill briefings, lobby days, and special projects. Previously, Erin spent six years in the U.S. Senate working for Senators Chuck Hagel and Mike Johanns. As a Legislative Assistant for Senator Johanns, she covered the foreign affairs, international development, global health, defense, veterans, immigration and homeland security portfolios. This included formulating legislative proposals, providing policy and vote recommendations, and building support for specific initiatives and legislation. During her time in the Senate, Erin also served as a Legislative Aide, a Constituent Service Representative and the Grant and Special Project Coordinator. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with minors in Political Science and Art History, from the University of Nebraska.
