Laurent Lamothe was appointed Prime Minister of Haiti on May 4, 2012.  Prior to that, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs.  He also served as co-chair, with former U.S. President Bill Clinton, of the Presidential Advisory Council for the Economic Development and Investment in Haiti, which was launched by Haitian President Michel Martelly in September 2011.  As prime minister, Lamothe has advanced continuing reconstruction efforts as well as jump-starting Haiti's economic development.  He has also prioritized the consolidation of democratic institutions in Haiti as well as ensuring the country's political stability.
