Myanmar Relief Opportunity

Members of the STAR-TIDES network:

There should be an opportunity in early January 2009 to send relief supplies into Myanmar accompanied by a reliable individual, with good contacts in country who can help ensure they will get to those in need.

Two categories of aid have been identified thus far: Shelter and small tractors to replace lost water buffalo. More ideas are welcome.

TIDES in Miami for NDIA-Logistics conference and SOUTHCOM display

STAR-TIDES presented a demo-display at the recent NDIA - National Defense Industrial Association on Logistics in Miami, from 11-13 March 2008.  The STAR-TIDES display included an 8 foot hexayurt shelter build with 3/4 inch insulation board panels, as well as a 6 foot "stretch" model built with compressed panelboard or "temperboard" purchased at the local Home Depot for about $7.00 per 4' x 8' sheet.  The display also included GATR's portable satellite ICT solution, several lightweight and low-cost heating/lighting/cooling solutions, solar and integrated cooking, and some simple wa
